What is the range of the electric bike on one charge?
The range is determined by the amount of energy “stored” in the battery. A battery with parameters 36 V and 20.3 Ah, you have 730 Wh. This amount of energy is enough to travel about 150-180km (90-110 miles).
The following factors have a major impact on the range:

- Rider weight
- Terrain profile
- Level of support of the motor
- Riding style
- Road surface

Other significant factors include: counter-wind, tire inflation, ambient temperature, the way derailleur is used and many more. The range value given by us are rather at the lower limit of the MTF e-bikes, even a cyclist weighing 120kg will reach at least the lower specified range.

How long does it take to charge the battery?
One charge of a fully discharged battery usually takes about 5-8 hours. This value is always specified with each e-bike for more accurate number and is dependent on the size of the battery.

Is it necessary to charge the battery after each ride?
The battery has a certain capacity when fully charged. Let’s say that this capacity is enough for you to ride 120km. If you go, for example to work, 15km each way, the battery will last you for three to four days. It is therefore not necessary to charge it after each ride.

How do I take care of the battery in the winter?
Do not store the battery in very cold temperatures (e.g. cold garage, shed). Room temperature is best for the battery. If you do not ride your e-bike during winter, then charge the store battery once every 2 months (even if it hasn’t been used in the meantime). This will extend its life. If you want to ride even in cold and frosty weather, you can do so. However, be aware that at low temperatures, the range per charge will be reduced.

Aren't E-Bikes too heavy?
Our electric bikes are built using high-quality aluminium frames and use classic cycling components, just like normal bicycles. The only thing that’s extra is motor and battery, which will increase bike’s weight by about 4.5 – 6 kg. There is no need to fear the increased weight as the motor assistance will completely negate the extra weight added. And if you want to push the bike around, simply make use of the walking assistance function.

What if the E-Bike gets wet?
Electric bikes are equipped with a waterproof electric system, so you can ride happily even in the rain and don’t have to worry about the bike getting wet. Both the battery and motor are well sealed; however, it is primarily recommended to not ride in very heavy rain and cross deep puddles where the motor or battery could be submerged as a result. In the event of moisture condensation in the area of the control unit, the electronics will be disconnected until they are completely dry.

Is maintenance of E-Bike any different from normal bicycle?
Not much. The electrical components are essentially maintenance free. But it is necessary to remember that in winter the battery needs to be charged at least once every 2 months (even if you do not ride the bike!). When washing the bike keep in mind that using pressure washer can break seals and damage electrical components. If you ride in winter it is important to wash your bike more frequently as road salt that remains on the bike for too long can cause corrosion and poor contact of electrical parts.

What is the battery life?
The batteries used in our E-Bikes have a lifespan of 500 – 900 charging cycles (depending on the type). This means you can charge the battery 500 times (or 900 times) without significantly reducing its capacity. Then the battery capacity starts to gradually decrease (same as your mobile phone for example). Reducing the battery capacity does not affect the performance of the E-Bike, it can only reduce the range per charge. If we assume that a very active cyclist will cover about 6000 km per year, that will translate to roughly 100 charging cycles. So even with high use of E-Bike, you are looking at minimum of 5 years of battery life.

How can I maximize to range on a single charge?
- Keep your bike in good condition:
- Perform a classic service regularly
- Keep the tires inflated properly
- Clean and lubricate the chain
- When riding, use the derailleur to set the correct gear.

Where is the MTF brand of E-Bikes from?
MTF is a Czech brand of electric bikes. MTF bikes are designed to be the best in their class on the market. All components used are branded and of high quality.

Electric bike on the road?
In order to be able to ride on the road, do I have to register the bike in any way?
Not at all. The E-Bikes are viewed as normal bicycles; however, they must comply with EAPC’s (electrically assisted pedal cycles) legislation. You can ride E-Bike if you’re 14 or over, provided the E-Bike meets the criteria (engine power up to 250W and maximum assisted speed of 25km/h or 15.5 mph) which our bikes do.

E-Bike without speed limitation / unlocking speed limiter
If the speed limiter is used, the electric bicycle cannot be used on roads or cycle paths. In addition, modifying the electric bicycle in such way will cause excessive battery and motor wear, void your warranty, and damage the product. The seller is not liable for any damages associated with the installation and use of the device.

E-Bike with BOSCH motor
This is one of the best motors you can have on your E-Bike. BOSCH motors are the absolute world leader. For 2020, BOSCH has introduced a novelty in the form of fourth-generation motors and more powerful PowerTube batteries. The Performance Line CX and Performance Line 2020 motors are more powerful than their predecessors. The performance of individual levels of support has also improved. New motors are also more sensitive and always deliver the most optimal power in a given assistance mode. With the new motors, BOSCH has also opted for a large converter with 38 teeth. As a result, the motor offers almost no resistance when riding without assistance and can be compared to riding a classic bicycle.

Riding without a battery or assistance
You can normally pedal on your E-Bike without using assistance. Electric bicycles with a rear motor offer almost no resistance because they are equipped with an idler. The E-Bikes with a motor in the centre of the bike suffer a little resistance with riding without assistance.
Absolutely the best solution are the BOSCH motors of the new generation. Thanks to the larger transducer and construction, their resistance is minimal.

Battery location on the electric bicycle
On MTF electric bikes, most batteries are fully integrated into the frame. For city bikes they are mostly on the rear carrier, for folding bikes behind a saddle tube.

Riding uphill
With the assistance of E-Bike you can easily conquer even the steepest climbs and not break a sweat. Of course, when using assistance on a steep hill, the battery will be consumed quicker and the range will be reduced proportionally.

How to secure E-Bike against theft?
The battery in the electric bicycle is locked and cannot be removed without using the key. Always take the keys with you! In addition, electric bicycles with a rear hub motor and a MAX Drive centre motor can be locked with a password on the display. No one will ride away with the E-Bike without knowing the four-digit code. The third and probably the best way is to lock your bike with a normal spiral lock (also supplied by us in the Accessories section).

Why don’t the batteries charge while braking?
MTF E-Bikes have no recuperation while braking, similar to roughly 98% of any other E-Bikes on the market. By constantly charging and discharging the batteries this way, their life would be drastically reduced. In addition, the efficiency of this system is somewhere between 5-10%. Because of these reasons most manufacturers, including MTF, decided to not use this system.

Dealing with a puncture on E-Bike
It is advised to carry a spare tube and/or puncture repair kit when on a longer trip. Puncture repair or tube replacement is essentially the same as on a classic bicycle if you have an E-Bike with a central motor.
For models with rear motors, you can either disconnect any cables that run under the chain to the motor and then disconnect the wheel. Second option is to perform the puncture repair without removing the wheel, simply expose the tube by prying the tire to the motor side, then pump and locate the puncture, patch it and re-fit everything back.
